COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
AP171-371 Acrylic Painting I-III Students learn techniques of color mixing and paint application. Landscape and marine paintings completed.
W161-461 Watercolor Painting I-IV Students learn to paint on cold pressed and rough textured watercolor paper. Expression and freedom of line are emphasized.
O181-281 Oil Painting I-II Emphasis is placed on material, canvas preparation and color mixing. Form and shading is taught through the use of positive and negative space. Still life, landscape, figure painting, composition and design are developed.
D191-491 Drawing I-IV Contemporary techniques for interpreting the proportions of the human form are taught through demonstration and diagrams. Students complete portraits and drawing in charcoal, pastel and oil.
I111-411 Illustration I-IV Students learn proportion in drawing inanimate and animate forms. The play of light and shade on form is presented. Techniques for using pen and ink, watercolor washes and oil paint illustration is demonstrated.

The Art School provides a stimulating cultural environment with ongoing exhibits throughout the shoreline and in the Shoreline School Gallery by faculty, alumni, students and guest artists. Classes are taught in well-lighted and ventilated rooms, air conditioned during the summer.
Students have access to art reference instruction books, art magazines, studio desks and easels. The paved parking lot on school grounds has ample room for student vehicles.

This unique diploma program offered at the Shoreline School of Art & Music Inc provides adult students with a comprehensive background in illustration and advertising design and includes courses in Creative Advertising Design, Illustration, Perspective and Anatomy Drawing,
